Christmas 2008

Christmas morning was spent at Brandon and Michelle's and with Parker and Emily. They had us over for breakfast and to watch the kids open presents. It is so nice having some of our grand kids living close.

Then we went back to our house and Brooke and Pat came over and opened presents. Brooke was her Daddy's little elf and did his shopping for him. But that was great because she sure picked out a very pretty Jewel box for me.
It is hard to set new Christmas traditions now that our kids have grown. But we have many good memories of the Christmases past. As long as I can remember we had a Christmas Eve party at my mom and dad's, it was also their anniversary. They would have been married 72 years this Christmas (WOW). After some of the kids were married, we took turns with mom in having the Christmas Eve party. When I was a teenager several of them were at Sherry's in Center. As our family grew most of our parties were at Renie's as she had the biggest room. It was nice to go to the Norton's again for our Christmas Eve party this year. Brandon, Michelle, kids, and Pat & Brooke also went with us. We laughed so hard at Matt being a hopping like a bunny using his hands for ears and saying "funny bunny" over and over with 6 big marshmallows in his mouth. And then there was Pat V. with is plastic wig on and doing an Elvis impression sang "I ain't nothing like a hound dog". Erica and Tate did a great job on coming up with that game.

We had a wonderful Christmas, later that afternoon we had the family come and eat and play games. It was snowing and the wind was blowing hard so we had to cut the evening short before the roads were drifted closed between here and Manassa. We definitely had a "white" Christmas and a great one.

Fun with Emily!!!

We have had so much fun with Emily this week. Brandon, Michelle, and Parker went to visit John, Wendi, and girls in Kaua'i. We had to twist their arm to leave her, but we knew the long plane ride, boogie boarding, and hiking to falls would not be a fun with her. So she stayed with Meme and Papa and has kept us busy laughing, rocking late hours, and changing diapers. I curled her hair for church and she was so delighted when she saw herself in the mirrow. She knew she was cute and so we had to hurry and get some photo shots before church started.
She started calling the telephone Mama and wanted to carry it around with her all the time. She is a mess with the buttons and I just hoped she didn't hit 911.
Emily will be 15 mos. on the 21st of this month. She was really a big girl and we got along find. She would say Mama and Dada as she walked around the house, but she never cryed for them.
She is going home this evening and I sure will miss her. She has really learned to love her Meme and she gives lots of kisses an hugs.
